Feminism or Convenience? A Critical Look at Selective Equality

Feminism is rising very fast in today’s world. Way more than in the past. People are protesting to get women the equal rights as men have. But are they also protesting to get equal responsibilities? Let alone protesting, they choose selective feminism( most of them, not all obviously).

Selective feminism can be described as a concept where women choose feminism where they see profit. Like when they are working in any company, they want equal salary, and it’s fair also, they must be getting the salary according to the work they are doing even without considering if they are male or female. But when it comes to jobs where the hardships are very high, they don’t even think of it.

Feminism as a concept originated in late 18th century in Europe. The ideal of feminism was to give women the equal rights as men when it comes to choosing the government and also ending sexual oppression against women. They must get equal opportunities and dignity of work.

But the case is not that much fair. Women choose feminism only when they are at an advantage. They will become daddy’s princess at home, the traditional women in the restaurant where they want other person to hold the chair for her and modern when they have to get the money. These days as you see there are a lot of women on instagram and other such apps doing things through which they can earn money. They will say that men have objectified women, but they will reveal their body when they are getting money. It is what selective feminism is. They will say women should have choice on what they wear but then wear the seductive clothes designed by men working for capitalism.

You agree or not but women fight too much for what to wear and what not to, and they don’t fight to wear clothes which cover them fully, instead they fight to wear clothes which reveals them the most. Men on the other hand are mostly wearing the same dress since ages and not giving a slight thought about dresses. Why? Because clothes do play a very large role in selection or say attraction.

It’s so strange that the same women who will fight if anyone on the streets looks at them for few seconds will post her most seductive picture or video and then ask for views, because the look on streets was not giving her money but on social media it is.

I had seen some instagram person, who used to use abusive language in her reels, initially her mom used to scold her and was not happy with her, but when she started getting the money, her parents had no objection. She had said this in an interview.

It’s true that women have been oppressed for ages because the thing driving the society was muscle power and in the realm of physical power, men are always superior to women as they are designed differently by the nature.

In the starting conditions were very harsh, people had to go out to hunt, cut trees and and collect wood so that food can be cooked. In that time women didn’t protest to go out because they knew that it will harm them.

Today also in harsh jobs there are very few women, how many women decides to become a truck driver, or work as manual labour on ships or other places where the conditions are too harsh? Some feminist(pseudo) say they can go to any extent (below the belt) to earn money to feed their child. As if there is noting left to them except using their body out of choice even when they were doing a good business in the past.

The main problem is not feminism but the pseudo-feminism, where they misuse the feminism to get their desired things. It cannot be that you demand equality but don’t want responsibilities.

If women really want equality then they really need to give strong thought to it, and instead of being objectifying themselves make themselves separate from their body just like most men do.
